Spring is a lovely reminder of how beautiful change can really be.

Spring is the perfect time to re-evaluate what’s working and what’s not in your business.

There is an energy which abounds in Spring. An energy which invites renewal and reinvention. It almost pushes us towards clearing out the old to make space for the new.

From re-evaluating your priorities, to your profitability, here are the four ways Rob and I use this month to spring clean our business.

Re-evaluate Your Priorities

Do you have a written-down, crystal clear vision for your life?

Most people have a vague idea of what they want (more time, more money, more freedom), but they haven’t nailed it down to specifics nor why having it is important to them. This means the majority of people never actually achieve what they want out of life. They simply settle for what they get.

So if you’re feeling like you’re caught in ‘Groundhog Day’, or just not particularly excited about the future, or your business, having a clear picture of what you’re working towards can literally turn that around overnight.

Just these last couple of weekends, Rob & I have been hosting clients at our home while they work with us on their life story. The difference in their outlook and their belief in what’s possible from when they arrive to when they leave is astonishing. They go home excited about the future, and confident in their ability to make it happen.

This time of year is a great time to stop and ask yourself…

  • Am I clear about what’s truly important to me?
  • What lifestyle do I want to create for myself and my family?
  • Am I on the right path?
  • Am I focused on the activities which take me closer to my goals?

Re-evaluate Your People

“It’s not the person you fail to hire that destroys a company, it’s the person you fail to fire.”

Tony Robbins

I’ve written at length on what it takes to create a high-performance culture at work – read here and here.

Right now, it’s CRITICAL you have the right people on your bus. No business owner can afford to carry under-performing employees in this economic market.

The fastest and easiest way to assess whether or not you’ve got the right people on the bus is with the Competence-Commitment Model. You can download the model for FREE, along with a video training on how to use it simply by opting in for my Foundations For A High-Performing Team Resource Bundle (Link to Optin Form).

Re-evaluate Your Processes

I’m not at all suggesting you completely overhaul your processes, but now’s a great time to look for the 1% improvements.

Have every employee – and yourself – answer this question…

“What could we be doing better?”

Lots of incremental 1% improvements create significant change over time.

Re-evaluate Your Profits

In my experience, business owners do not review their numbers often enough. Sure, their accountant submits their BAS every quarter, but how deep do you go into translating those numbers into usable information to drive your business forward?

  • In Q1, did you make or exceed budget? If not, what will you do differently in Q2?
  • How profitable is your business to date? Is there enough profit in the business to not only fund your current lifestyle, but also fund your investments for the future? If not, what do you need to do differently to improve business profitability?
  • Is your focus on hitting a TURNOVER goal or a PROFIT goal? If you’ve been focused on hitting a turnover goal, I invite you refocus to achieving a profit target for the remainder of the 2021FY. Mo’ money may be mo’ problems, but mo’ profit is always a winner.

There you have it. The four ways Rob & I have re-evaluated our business this month and every Spring. If you’d like to know more about anything I’ve raised in this blog, I encourage you to reach out. Rob and I are here to support you achieving the business and life you want for you and your family.
